The hobby of homebrewing beer

Dreaming of Stouts

Just finished snow blowing the driveway. Now I am dreaming of stouts. Dry stouts, sweet stouts, flavored stouts and Oatmeal stout of course. What beer style best satisfies your winter weather day dreams?

I also have a real itch for porter lately. I collected a sampling of porters to get a baseline for what I like and don’t like. Using these commercial beers for some baseline inspiration.

Stone Vanilla Smoked Porter and Bourbon County Stout by Goose Island have been my favorites this winter!

    How about this snow?

  2. Those examples certainly up the ante on basic porter for sure. Excellent flavors and breweries. Thanks for the comment.

Check out Jack’s Abby Framinghammer, a Baltic Porter, either the normal or the barrel aged (which I assume will be released over the next month or so). A new favorite for porters. I’ll second Bourbon County Stout, one of the greats. I have my keg of it tapped right now; stop by if you’d like to try some (I’m somehow across the street from both of you.)
