Looking Back At 2008

Posted by John in General

Just looking at a post from last year:

Here are my BrewYear Resolutions:

1. Brew my first all grain batch.

2. Brew a lager beer.

3. Get more involved with online brewing community.

4. Finish reading How To Brew.

5. Work towards making Brew Dudes a good homebrewing resource.

Let’s check the list this time next year and see how I did.

Is 2 and a half out of 5 ok?

I have not brewed an all grain batch all by my lonesome. I haven’t brewed a lager yet. I have gotten involved with the online brewing community. I have read How To Brew for the most part (I skipped a few chapters) and the last one is debatable.

I think I should try to knock out this list completely before I add anything to it, don’t you?

Good luck on the all grain home brew. That is also my next step once I get all the right equipment. Space is limited in my apartment but I won’t let that stop me. Let us know how it goes.

As long as it’s the first two! Dive right in with the all-grain and lagerning. Both are a lot more simple than they appear to be on paper and you’ll be really happy you made the attempt. IMO there is no better way of learning than trying.

    Happy New Year

2.5 of 5, means you’re batting .500! Don’t be afraid to add to the list, just remember to re-prioritize and you’ll be just fine.

I finally did my 1st lager in 08′. The biggest thing I learned is that patience is indeed a virtue.

Are you kidding me, you have a resource like Mike Just begging to be asked questions and you havn’t tried an all grain batch yet? Shame on you sir, Shame on you.
Ha ha, seriously Mike really helped me getting my all grain system straightened out, and he’s always been available for my time consuming dumb ass questions. Really, give him a try, he loves dumb ass questions. I always check this site to see if he started a new stream called dumb ass questions, and the answers to all of them. Ha ha.

Travis – Thanks. I will be diving in. I need to update a few pieces of equipment and I will be ready.

Richard – My batting average is pretty good. I am going to get to these things. Just a matter of time.

Lauren – Not sure if you know this, but Mike is a recluse. He leaves the house rarely. He fears the phone and he doesn’t really like me…or the general population for that matter.

All kidding aside, Mike’s a great mentor and it’s been more of an equipment issue for me than anything else. Once I buy a few things, I will be all graining and lagering like crazy.

Dude, brew an all-grain lager. You’ll kill two beers kegs with one tapper.
