Cider Making Book

Last Fall, these Brew Dudes made an apple cider using an old press. The results were mixed but for a first try, it could have been worse.
The cider came out drinkable which was the goal of the whole experiment.
To make 2010 the year we make contact with cider success, I bought a book about making cider.
The book Cider: Making, Using & Enjoying Sweet & Hard Cider should be arriving at my doorstep in a few days.
With this book, I am pretty sure the cider will come out much better than the first time.
Maybe it will have a malted cider recipe.

Let us know how the book turns out. I was in the same boat last yeat – scrounging around to find good info on making cider.
Also, do you know of a inexpensive, yet effective way to make a cider press? There is a great orchard around here (RI) that has 45 varieties of apples…but no way of pressing them

DT – Is that happening at Carlson Orchards again? Let us know date and place please.
JW – There was a good article on creating your own press in BYO last year (September 2009 issue). The article isn’t online from what I can tell. The page I found has a subscription form, but no article:
